Detailed Daily Event Information

FRIDAY, AUGUST 26, 2016:

Watch the Detroit Tigers from the Detroit Opera House Sky Deck
Time: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM (approx.) Doors open at 5:00 PM

Join your fellow Redford Union High School Class of 1968 Alumni on the Detroit Opera House Sky Deck, (1526 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226, enter at the Ford Center Doors located on Broadway near the corner of Witherell), to watch the Detroit Tigers play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, August 26, 2016. The game starts at 7:08 PM, will be broadcast live over the radio and bleachers are placed so you can watch the live action at Comerica Park from the Sky Deck. Bring your binoculars for the best view.

No cover charge if we arrive before 8:00 PM - $5 after 8:00 PM. Other seating is available on the Sky Deck if you are not interested in watching the game. The view is spectacular from this vantage point – I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Food and Beverage
The Detroit Opera House Sky Deck features a full open bar, featuring beer, liquor, wine and Pepsi products for purchase. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, chips and other ballpark food options are also available for purchase as well as select vegetarian options.

Parking for the Detroit Opera House
The Detroit Opera House parking structure is a great location to park. The address for the Parking Center is 1425 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226. You can enter the parking center on John R or Grand River. The Parking Center is open 24 hours a day. (Expect several events to be going on August 26 and parking will be at a premium.)

Don’t want to drive downtown?
Connie Harris-Allegrina has arranged for a limousine to drive us to the Detroit Opera House in style! The cost for the limo is $300 plus a tip for the driver. If we have 20 – 30 people (or more), the cost will probably be less per person than if we drove downtown and paid for parking. Meet us at 6:30 PM (we may need to meet a little earlier) at Mason's Bar (13490 Farmington Rd, Livonia, MI 48150) on the SE corner of I96 and Farmington Rd. They have a parking lot where we can meet to take the limo downtown. After the game, we’ll get back in the limo and the driver will return us to Mason’s Bar.

For people who want to drive downtown themselves here are a few options for parking and free shuttles:
• Nemo's (1384 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48226) in Corktown (by where the old Tiger stadium used to be) has a parking lot and free shuttle.
• Harry's (2482 Clifford St, Detroit, MI 48201) has a fenced in parking lot and complimentary shuttle.
• Bookies (1265 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226) also has a complimentary shuttle, but by the time you park around there you might as well just walk.

There are other bars and restaurants in the downtown area that offer free shuttles if you want to check out other locations.

Attire
Casual attire is a must for this fun evening on the Detroit Opera House Sky Deck! Once the sun goes down, you may need a light sweater.

Please note: The Sky Deck is available for rent for private parties. Because the cost is so high and we’re not sure of the number of people who will attend, we decided not to rent the space. We will watch the Sky Deck’s website and, if the space is rented, we have two more downtown options. We’ll keep you posted!

Also, there is an elevator that will take you to the floor just below the Sky Deck. A stairway will take you the rest of the way up.
